The Campaign Review by Catherine Golden
The Campaign, by play-write Campion Decent, is a moving presentation of the key episodes of the campaign for gay rights in the Australian state of Tasmania through the '80s and '90s. The act of consensual sex between men remained a penal offense in Tasmania up until 1997. This verbatim style play presents the stories of the key gay rights activists involved, their friends and families, as well as parliamentary and religious speeches, and newspaper articles of the times.
